This actually isn't that bad. Do the hands need a little work? Yes, but many people (including myself) have issues drawing hands that don't look weird/hideous. And really, the hands you drew don't look that terrible. Piro's right hand really bothers me though. I should at least see some hint of there being other fingers behind his "pointing finger" touching his ear, if you get what I mean. His neck should prolly be a bit wider (or at least not as triangular).
As for Piro's left arm, we should see some indication of him having an elbow and his arm being bent. I'm sort of bad at verbally describing this sort of thing so I'll just show you what I mean. [link] Let me know if anything is unclear and hope it helps.
...Aside from that, I think this is a really cute idea. Kumugiko is squishably adorable and Piro's expression humorous. :3 I think with just a tiny bit of practice you'll be able to master the hand drawing. You're off to a good start (as the basic shape and overall hand proportions seem close enough to be passable).
